Indonesian Dictionary

I just found out about kateglo, Indonesian dictionary. It’s provide definition, thesaurus, and glosary; just like its name: “kamus”, “tesaurus”, dan “glosarium”. And by the way, it was launched on May 9, exactly one month before Erin McKean launch her Wordnik.

Another fyi: Mac user, there is an English – Indonesia plugin for Mac Dictionary. You can get it at Abu Hasan Blog.

Facebook: Soon you will be able to have a username

Starting on Saturday, June 13th, at 11:01am, you’ll be able to choose a username for your Facebook account to easily direct friends, family, and coworkers to your profile.

Check out the Facebook Blog for more information.
For me, this thing is not very important though :p. And people search my name not my username.

Wordnik – Great Dictionary!

  • An example sentence—even if we’ve only found one sentence for a word, we’ll show it to you. (And we’ll show you where the sentence came from, too!
  • Related words: not just synonyms and antonyms, but words that are used in the same contexts. (For instance, cheeseburger, milkshake, and doughnut are not synonyms, but they show up in the same kinds of sentences.)
  • Images tagged by our friends at Flickr: want to know what a “pout” looks like? We’ll show you.
  • Statistics: how rare is “tintinnabulation”? Well, we think you’ll see it only about once a year. “Smile”? You might see that word many times, every day.
  • An audio pronunciation—and you can record your own!
  • Something YOU tell us! Use the “Contribute” links to tell us something—anything—about a word.

There’s Twitter element too! It show how a word is really used.

This idea came from Erin McKean at TEDTalk 2007.

Don’t Playing On The Sun

My advice: Don’t playing on the sun! Death is out there, partying in 6000 degree.

Bing – Decision Engine? Not Yet

After Wolfram|Alpha launched their nerd search engine about three weeks ago, Microsoft launch their new search engine, Bing. Their strategy, it seems, is to provide direct answers to questions, sort of like Wolfram Alpha does, but with a focus on everyday queries like consumer product info, weather, local interests and even health questions.

But don’t expect too much like in the video. I think three’s no much different with the old live.com (and also it’s xRank). May be need another day, another week, or another month to be there. I don’t know. Ars spot some of them, discovers much to like—and some frustration.

I’m Sorry Man! I Used Your Address

This story began when I got update on  iTunes Facebook page like this:

Congratulations! Enjoy your FREE 10 song Spring into Summer Music Mix from iTunes, featuring The Decemberists, Bat for Lashes and 2 exclusive songs from Dave Matthews Band…blabla…Please note this free music mix is only available on the US iTunes Store.

Then, I go to the store, but then as usual I didn’t want to pay or create something with money involved (and I’m not in the US), I follow the step-by-step, pick ‘none’ as payment, and then I have to fill out the required name and address fields. So, I go to WhitePages, search my name, and later find some guy with similar name in Florida, and used his address. Another pirate job!

This is kinda lame actually. I already have half of the song, I can get the others elsewhere, the account is not so important, the trick too.

Ow, by the way, here’s the song list. Happy listening!

Percussion Gun / White Rabbits
Go On, Say It / Blind Pilot
The Rake’s Song / The Decemberists
Wantin’ Her Again / Ben Kweller
Cornbread (Alpine Valley 2008) [Live] / Matthews Band
Dancing Nancies (Alpine Valley 2008) [Live] / Dave Matthews Band
Daniel / Bat for Lashes
Airstream Driver / Gomez
Black Tables / Other Lives
Taller Children / Elizabeth & The Catapult
