Wish list (After WWDC 2009)
Wake up this morning, read all overdose news about new product from Apple Worldwide Developers Conference 2009, and here my wish list (just like everybody else, especially apple fan all over the world):
- iPhone 3G S 16GB
- Mac OS X Snow Leopard, it’s only $29! (with 15-inch Macbook Pro? :D dream!)
Newton Virus for Mac
It’s out there now. It’s cool! You have to try it! I wanna try. Got the app, but damn, I don’t have USB stick (weird right? for a student who lives in this era… hahaha… I got external drive though). I’m still waiting for the screen saver version.

Happy Birthday Tetris!

Ow… I’m late, it’s yesterday! But better late than never.
By the way, Mac user, you can play tetris for free. No need to download or add extra application. Just open your terminal, type emacs, then press esc-x, then type tetris. Lets the play begin, control the shape with arrow key. To pause: esc-x, resume: type res. Then you get bored. Exit strategy: press esc-x again then control-x, control-c.
jDownloader Update Error

May be you face same problem as me. When you start your jD it asking for update, you approve it, update window appear, and restart. But after restart it keep asking for update again. So I record the update process and found out that extraction(?) broke when it try to update unrar file from http://r22593.ovh.net/bin/tools/mac/unrar/. So I go to my /Applications, ctrl+click on jD, show package contents, go to contents/resources/java/tools/mac/.. (like in the url), and synchronize the content with the web. In my case, there’s no unrar folder, unrar2 only, so I create new one, download the folder content from the web, and no update request appear again.
Project Natal
I’m not a gamer. But this make me wanna play games.
jDownloader 0.5.859

New interface! It’s great, but… I still like the old one. It’s more simple, even though some function didn’t work. Still the best downloader for Mac to download file from file-sharing server like Rapidshare, Megaupload, etc. Great job jD!

Ripping: From .uif to .mov [Success]
Yesterday I download a music video. But the problem is it’s in .uif format, Windows-user burned it in MagicISO‘s proprietary UIF format. So, this is what I do:
1st step: Convert it to .iso using UIFtoISO (free). This software is really easy to use!
2nd step: You must mount the iso file. I use Toast Titanium (Utilities > Mount Disk Image > Select). It will work as virtual drive. If I just open it using Disk Utility, next step wont work.
3rd step: Ready to rip. First I try HandBrake (free), but from 7 videos from the playlist, I can only ripped 2 videos. This same problem appeared when I try ffmpegX (free). But, this one tell me what was wrong: not allowed, copyright laws.

Never give up! Now the third software, iSkysoft iMedia Converter. Third attemp, and it’s a success!

Little problem with encoding: when I try output file in .avi, the video and audio didn’t sync. It sync if the output is in .mov format. Couldn’t find why, but I use QuickTime for watching video, so no problem in the end. One more thing, you can change the resolution in Settings panel (see: Help > Using iMedia Converter > Editing files). The original resolution is the one in Edit panel (see: Help > Using iMedia Converter > Output Settings) and of course before you cropped it!

Be a Geek, Be a Master
May be you know there’s a cologne ads, with it’s slogan, which not make any sense, ‘be a man, be a master’. It will more rational for a geek to be a master.
Look at the geek at ITP – the Interactive Telecommunications Program and their Spring Show. The most interesting stuff we see every year comes out of NYU’s ITP program’s twice-a-year shows, where students exhibit their thesis projects. The gadget industry can’t even dreamwith this much spark and creativity (Giz). Founded in 1979 as the first graduate education program in alternative media, ITP has grown into a living community of technologists, theorists, engineers, designers, and artists uniquely dedicated to pushing the boundaries of interactivity in the real and digital worlds.
This is some the master’s project: The Pheromone Emitting Seduction Ring (you wish…), sensor to decodes hugs and sends them to Twitter (what is this for?), and The 100-Year Alarm Clock (to remain your grandson there’s something you did for him).
Or may be, you can be the other kind of master, maqic master?
This make me remember one of my high school teacher, who really dislike our education system, where we spend our entire high school just to pass national exam for entering university: ‘spmb.. spmb.. spmb’ (with his satirical tone).
[Thanks Giz, for all that coverage]
