Music Listening Histories Analyzer

I got this nice app, LastHistory, it analyze music listening histories from Last.fm through an interactive (dot) visualization.

But this app still lack of numerical data. From the picture above, I can say that I’m really a night owl. Most of my library is rock (pink), I like post-rock.

The other music analyzer is iTunes genius. It’s pretty neat. Picture below show us Genius Mixes, that categorize music library based on genre. You can make playlist based on one song too.

Free Album: Korine Conception

Korine Conception – Glow In Transparancy Aurora. Genre: Shoegaze.

Not bad. The first reason I post this is because they are founded in Medan, 3 hours from my hometown. Not bad. But I expect cleaner audio and more tense.

A wonderful emotive album. Both delicate and powerful. Hints of Slowdive and Sigur Ros – which can’t be a bad thing. More fantastic shoegaze influenced music from Indonesia.

You can download it for free from BFW recordings.

Reverse Shadow Theatre with Animata

Wayang is an Indonesian word for theatre (literally “shadow”). Wayang Kulit is the indonesian shadow puppet theatre, in which finely carved and painted leather puppets move behind a screen making the audiance see their shadows only.

In Reverse Shadow Theatre (vimeo) the situation is reversed. The role of the elaborate puppets is emphasized, while the visitor is a mere shadow trying to control the puppets by her movements.

Reverse Shadow Theatre is created with the Animata real-time animation editor. Animata is developed by Peter Nemeth, Gabor Papp and Bence Samu whose peculiarity consists in giving movement to figures and backgrounds in real-time: Code Dreams are Made of This. If you want to try playing around with the software yourself, the Animata software can be downloaded for free.

This is a 2 years old video. I already looking around, find one post in Kaskus too, but can’t find out their history, why use wayang (EyesWeb got real-time puppet animation too), or maybe one of the team studied in Indonesia once. And I found their lab, Kitchen Budapest, is interesting, they have many great project.

gimmesound: Glass America – Redivivus

Glass America began in 2008 with a vision of rejecting the formulaic structures and textures that typify much of Post-rock. Members John Mirisola, Micah Wilson, Michael Foye, and Jared Deame wanted to create an original sound that encapsulated the best of ambient, instrumental music without succumbing to its clichés or being limited by what has come to be expected. (MySpace)

Their debut album Redivivus, are out now.

In If I forget you, O Jerusalem, the shorter track that follows, Glass America celebrate that they might be 2009′s best newcomers with impressive guitar playing, ending in an awesome crescendo, so that the subsequent piano can sound even more fragile. But once these dreamy vocals reappear in the sixth song [A Voice From Behind, my fav track!], no piano can convey feelings more beautifully. (postrockcommunity)

And it’s free! Yay! You can download it at gimmesound, track by track.

Some info about gimmesound: It’s real simple. Artists upload their music. Fans download it for free (register needed). We pay artists for every download out of ad revenue, with a percentage going to a cause of your choice.

Great Abum!

I Don’t Care… or I Actually Care?

So if someone says I don’t care, is he/she actually doesn’t care or just a liar, you know, Everybody Lies?

Hmmm… Whatever. I don’t care! And I don’t like being told what to do!
